Loop Resistance Bands by Live Infinitely Review

As you all know, I have been trying (mostly) to work out at least 3 times a week. I had been having a really tough time with the muscle soreness, especially after leg or core day, and it was really bringing me down. Why should I exercise if I can’t even sit down in a chair or climb a few steps the next day? After doing a little research, I found that I may not be stretching as much or as deep as I need to. Our muscles need to be warmed up before working out and they should also be stretched out at the end of every workout. I am not as flexible as I used to be (when I was a newborn), so getting a deep stretch was kind of hard for me.

The Loop Resistance Bands have really helped me get that extra stretch where I need it. It has cut my soreness down by at least half, and I am getting more flexible by the week! The bands come in different resistance strengths so you can choose the one that is right for you, whether you are a beginner or advanced. The different strengths come in easy to recognize colors so you can easily grab the band you need. Meal-Planning Monday

Happy Meal-Planning Monday! I am starting this post off with a very important question. Do you like chili? I only ask because my husband and my kids hate it and they are the ONLY people in the whole, wide world I know that doesn’t like chili. We have been having some chilly, windy, rainy weather here in Ohio and that kind of weather makes me want chili. So, I made a huge pot of chili yesterday.

Why? I’m sure you are asking “Why would you make a big pot of chili if you are the only one who eats it, Maggie?” Well, my family might hate chili, but they LOVE Frito Chili Pie! I’ll give you the recipe below. Beware, it is not low in calories or low in fat. It is deliciousness.

Here’s my meal plan for the week:

Monday: Frito Chili Pie
Tuesday: Chicken Parm with veggies
Wednesday: Boys Choice
Thursday: Pot Roast w/ fried potatoes
Friday: Homemade pizzas
Saturday: Hot Subs
Sunday: Spaghetti

It is supposed to be cold all this week, so I planned some good hearty meals to keep us warm! Here is the recipe I told you about earlier.

Frito Chili Pie

1 bag of Fritos
1 bag of shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 cups of homemade or canned chili (use homemade, it’s so much better!)
Sour Cream

Layer Fritos, chili, cheese and more Fritos in 4 separate bowls. Top with desired toppings.

Easy weeknight dinner right? What I usually do is freeze my leftover chili and when I know I’m going to be exhausted (Mondays, amiright?) I take it out and make this as an easy dinner. Let me know if you have tried it or how you make it! Have a great week!

Hello April

Hello April,

Oh, I have missed you. You are one of my favorite months and not just because of the warmer weather you bring. You are also my birthday month and when the flowers finally start to come to life again. Most years April, I have smiled as you came along knowing what you bring. The celebrations, the fun times outside, the gardening.

This year is different, April. This year you are also my hope month. I have really been letting adulting get to me lately. It’s sooooo hard April. I really need to get back into meal-planning, exercising and start clean eating again. So, I choose you, April, as the month for me to get my shit back together.

Oh, I know people use the first day of you to play pranks and fool others. Not me, April. Not this year. I need to get serious about my health and getting my life back in order and you are the perfect month for me to do it in.

Hello April. I’m so glad you are finally here!

The Day I Stopped Apologizing for my Sons

K and Little Dude
K and Little Dude

Today started out like any other day. I had the day off from work because little dude has had some “drifting” in his right eye ever since he was little and I finally got around to making an appointment for it. K is on spring break this week, so the hubby and I fed everyone breakfast and loaded up the car and went to the eye doctor.

I honestly thought this would be an in and out appointment. I figured they would see the drifting, maybe prescribe some glasses or an eye patch and we would go on our merry way to the grocery store. Instead, this doctor visit made me question myself as a mother and I actually felt ashamed afterwards.

After we arrived, we checked in at the front desk and little dude was running around the waiting room being his charming little self. This eye office serves mostly elderly people so I was a little concerned he may annoy them a little bit, but everyone seemed to enjoy his running and chattering. After about 15 minutes we were called back to the room where the nurse assessed him which took about 15 minutes. Then the doctor came in, looked at him for 5 minutes and said they would go ahead and dilate his eyes today. This kind of annoyed me, he is only 2, but I figured they had to do it to make sure everything was normal. The doctor said he wanted to take a look at his optic nerve just to make sure there was no damage. So we had to hold him down for eye drops (they burn) and then we were ushered to another waiting room to wait for the drops to take effect.

Yeah, so by this time, little dude was SO DONE. He wanted to leave and he made no secret about it. He was screaming, crying, yelling, and throwing himself on the floor. He NEVER acts like this and I apologized profusely and compulsively to everyone else in the waiting room. We ended up being in there for a LONG 20 minutes before heading back into another room where the doctor looked at him for 5 minutes and sent us home. I couldn’t help but wonder if he didn’t hurry up and get rid of us due to the crying/screaming/yelling.

After we all got back in the car, little dude was pretty squinty so we headed home instead of to the grocery store. After we got home, I thought about me having to apologize and I became angry. Of course he was upset, he’s only 2 and he was probably frightened and just wanted to go home. Everyone knows toddlers don’t handle waiting well, especially after having been held down and making their eyes sting.

This is not to say that there will be (I’m sure of it) times I will need to apologize for my sons. Today was not one of them. We as mothers need to be on the sides of our kids and concerned with their comfort and not the comfort of some stranger in a waiting room.

Have a great week!

Meal-Planning Monday

Happy Meal-Planning Monday! Yesterday we welcomed the first day of spring but it was a cold one here in Ohio with the highs only in the mid 40s! I didn’t let that get me down though, I am in the spring spirit! Spring is my favorite time of year, it is the time of year I want to clean everything and get everything ready for summer! I can’t stop thinking of BBQs, backyard picnics, and gardening! We have already started looking at grills and fire pits for the backyard and I have my eye on a nice Patio set I saw at a local store the other day! Don’t you just love spring?

To celebrate spring, we were out and about on Saturday and I had one of Starbucks new Cherry Blossom Frapp! They were only available until today to celebrate spring and it was delicious! My hubby liked his Coffee Frapp better, but I say bring on the pink!

#cherryblossomfrappuccino for the win! So delicious! #starbucks #Coffeeaddict #saturdayfun

Here is my meal-plan for the week:

Monday: Spaghetti and salad. Mine will be made with zoodles and extra veggies!
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday!!
Wednesday: Boy’s Choice!
Thursday: Marinated Pork Chops w/ baked potatoes and roasted veggies
Friday: Homemade pizza w/ veggies and salad
Saturday: Baked Chicken and Green Beans
Sunday: Happy Easter! Ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, spice cake

If you haven’t heard of or made zoodles yet, you are missing out! They are zucchini noodles and they are delicious! There are about a million recipes on Pinterest for them and it takes a simple tool that you can purchase anywhere. I got mine on Amazon and will include a link below.

We are having a pretty traditional Easter dinner at our house and have decided not to color eggs this year. My two oldest just aren’t interested and little dude doesn’t seem to be either so we will see what next year brings. Have a great week everyone!

Is It Me or Is the Easter Bunny Early?

This week has been crazy! First, I find out little dude has a peanut allergy and then I deal with food poisoning Tuesday and Wednesday. Today I was going through my planner and saw something that sent me into full panic mode. I shouted at my husband and asked him a question I didn’t want to know the answer to. Is Easter really next Sunday? He looked at me like I was crazy, said yes, then walked away.

So, is it me or is the Easter bunny waaaaaayyyyyy early this year? I mean, aren’t we usually into April before I have to start coloring eggs hideous colors and letting my kids eat chocolate eggs at 7 am because it’s a holiday?

I am SO behind at this point. I haven’t bought baskets, toys, candy, ham, wine (for my basket). My husband is all like, calm down we have plenty of time. But I know the truth. I know that by Wednesday only the ugly baskets and the candies that no one likes will be there. Only the weird candy apple flavored hams will be left. I will be left with Boone’s Farm for wine. So, tomorrow I go shopping.

If you are like me and didn’t realize Easter was in March this year (seriously, why?) I have included a link to my Easter Pinterest board below. It is full of awesome recipes and crafts to keep you and your family busy and sane during the holiday! Happy Easter and egg hunting!

#ShowerBouquet Lace Shower Pouf Review

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. Regardless, all opinions are my own.

Spring has officially sprung in my neck of the woods and I am craving warm weather, gardens and flowers! I cannot wait to spend some time outdoors and get that nice summer glow going from finally being able to get some sunshine!

To get that nice summer glow though, you really need to get rid of all that dry skin that winter has so kindly left behind. One of the best ways to do this is to exfoliate in the shower but if you have sensitive skin like me, some of those can be kind of rough and leave you looking red, which is not glowing.

I was lucky to be able to review these #ShowerBouquet Lace Poufs right at the time spring was springing in. Also, bonus points for the lovely pastel colors they come in. They come in a 4 pack so you can have each member of the family pick their color or you can use them in gift or Easter baskets if you have extras! These Poufs are extra-large and super soft and are just right for getting rid of that dry, winter skin. I have also been using my favorite Bath and Body Works sugar scrub once a week to really slough all that dry skin off.

This product can be purchased on Amazon by clicking the link below. What are some of the ways you get your skin summer ready?

A Little Update

Yay, March is finally here! That means spring is merely a few weeks away and flowers will be blooming and birds will be singing. I personally cannot wait for spring. We have so many plans for the spring and summer and I just want to get started.

I’m writing this blog post to give you a little update about the blog between then and now. First, I have been a little slow on mailing out prizes. I will be mailing out all prizes that have not shipped within the next 2 weeks. We have had some family issues with health, work commitments, and life just getting in the way so I apologize. This is not normally how I like to do things, I try to have all prizes mailed out within 2-4 weeks of you winning the prize and I have failed this time.

Second, I will be revamping the blog. When I started this blog, it was more of a review blog but I am switching my focus to parenthood, organization, recipes and some fashion/beauty thrown in. I will still be doing the occasional reviews but only for certain products that I really believe in and think my readers will benefit from.

I hope you guys understand and will stick with me through this. I promise there will be great things coming soon, just like all the flowers that will be blooming soon!

Love and light,

Meal-Planning Monday

Happy Meal-Planning Monday! Sorry I’m late for this post but was it me, or did that weekend just fly by? I swear one second it was Friday and the next thing I know I’m experiencing a Smonday! Last week was a low-key week but this week is going to be busy. I have something extra-special on Wednesday (I can’t tell you about it until later! It’s good, I promise!) and then we are going to be doing the dreaded potty training this weekend.

We bought little dude an Elmo potty (it really flushes!) and some Paw Patrol undies to get him started. We also officially bottle broke him this past week. Surprisingly, he just went with it and it was gone in a day. Hopefully, potty training is going to be easy too! Pray for me. So, dinners this week will be low-key and be able to be on the table in 45 minutes or less!

Meal-Planning Monday

Happy Meal-Planning Monday! I’m sorry I’ve been away for a while, but I needed to take a break for myself and get some rest and take care of myself for a few weeks. I hope everyone had a fabulous Valentines Day yesterday, even if you are single, love yourself and treat yourself.

This week is going to be pretty low-key for us, just a typical week in the King household. Little dude has a follow-up appointment this week to make sure he has made a full recovery from his bout of pneumonia, but that’s about it. Here’s my meal-plan for the week:

Monday: Whole-wheat spaghetti w/ peppers and onions, salad
Tuesday: Chicken Stir-Fry w/ brown rice
Wednesday: Late night, boys choice
Thursday: 3 envelope roast in the slow cooker
Friday: Beef and Noodles (using leftover roast) w/ veggies from roast
Saturday: Pizza night
Sunday: Chicken Parmesan (baked), salad

I am making small changes (whole-wheat noodles, brown rice) to make my meals healthier for myself and my family. What are some small changes you make to your family dinners to make it healthier?
